How it works

Four steps. Then you're a club.

No setup wizard, no settings rabbit hole. Make a club, invite your people, get going.

  1. Spin up a club

Two people, five, twelve — your call. Private by default — invite-only, no public feed.

  2. Throw a title in the hat

Books, shows, movies, anime, games. Search them all in one place — real metadata, real posters.

  3. Vote, then dig in

Highest votes wins. The club always knows what's next. Track your progress as you go.

  4. Talk about it (kindly)

Spoiler tags hide what others haven't reached. Be loud about Ch. 12 — we've got you.

The marquee feature

Talk about it without ruining it.

Every post is tagged to a chapter, episode, or mission. If a member hasn't caught up, the post stays hidden — no awkward "wait, don't tell me" moments.

  • Tag posts to a specific progress point
  • Behind? It's blurred. Caught up? It opens.
  • "Final review" threads lock until everyone's done
  • The composer guards against accidental untagged posts

Yes!! And the way she frames the Other's "kindness" — it's the same trick the House plays on Piranesi himself in Ch. 14. The whole thing is about what categorization costs.

Round ends when the last person clicks "finished"
3 of 6 caught up · nobody gets left behind
Progress is everyone's

Nobody gets left behind.

Every member tracks their own pace. The group rolls up to a single "X of Y caught up" status, and admins can't end a round until the last person says they're done. No FOMO, no half-finished clubs.

  • Per-medium progress controls — chapters, episodes, missions
  • "Finished" is a one-click affirmation, not a chore
  • Auto-archive when everyone's done — onto the next pick
  • Or mark "Dropped" — that still counts toward the gate
Quick answers

Stuff people ask first.

Is it free?
Yes. HaveYouClub is in private beta — no card, no trial timer, no email pestering. We'll be honest if that ever changes.
Do I need to invite anyone to start?
Nope. Your personal library (Want to / In progress / Completed) works solo from day one. Invite a club later when you've found something worth sharing.
How does spoiler tagging actually work?
Every discussion post is tagged to a progress point (chapter, episode, mission). If a reader hasn't reached that point yet, the post is blurred behind a 'tagged past your progress' overlay. The server enforces it — not just the UI.
What media types do you support?
Books (Open Library), movies & TV (TMDB), anime (Jikan / MyAnimeList), and games (IGDB). All real metadata, real posters, no manual entry required.
Can I use it on my phone?
Yes — the web app works on every device today. A native mobile app is on the roadmap; the web experience is already mobile-first.
Is my club really private?
Yes. Invite-only, no public discovery, no algorithmic feed. The only people who see your club are the ones you let in.

Ready to round up your group?

Make a club in under a minute. Invite your people. Pick the next thing. That's the whole pitch.
